Head home...

Midlake are absolutely class.

I don't what it is about this track, "Head Home", but it's the absolute understated shit. It's the sort of music you need to trek large mountains by and hell, big trails... I've done certain amounts of Latin America and New Zealand with some pretty good music but you sir, and yes, you madam!! Owe it to your good selves to check out Midlake and The Trials of Van Occupanther, or disregard, at your own peril...

I mean c'mon, check these lyrics out...
No-one seems to be around today
They must've all gone off without me again
I think I'll head home

Maybe I'll find them gathered 'round my doorstep
Oh, to sleep in a comfortable bed
I think I'll head home

No-one seems to be around today
They must've all gone off without me again
I think I'll head home
I think I'll head home

Bring me a day full of honest work
and a roof that never leaks
I'll be satisfied

Bring me the news all about the town
How it struggles to help all the farmers out
During harvest time

But there's someone I'd like to see
She never mentions a word to me
She reads Leviathan

I think I'll head home
I think I'll head home
I think I'll head home

Bring me a day full of honest work
and a roof that never leaks
I'll be satisfied

Bring me the news all about the town
How it struggles to help all the farmers out
During harvest time

But there's someone I'd like to see
She never mentions a word to me
She reads Leviathan

I think I'll head home

The groom still waiting at the altar...

So, the week in review?

Well, I saw my best mate of 24 years get married on Saturday and all passed swimmingly. Not much more to report on there, they were off on Honeymoon in Turkey this week so hopefully that went well.

I only have next week to do before a well, very fucking well earned break on the west coast in France. Here's praying the weather is slightly better than the current rainy season Ireland is currently enduring.

Hell, it wouldn't take much.

Work trundles on uncertainly, property market continues to slide, booze continues to be hooched. Probably out for drinks with all the gang tomorrow night, try and recover on Sunday morning to make the pilgrimage to Irish deathbed granny (now lying in state for 2 years) and then Transformers in the Savoy followed by Thinguma*Jigsaw in the Lower Deck, I think.

Then a taxi home in the wee hours of Sunday night to start this charade of a life all over again...

In other news, my biography of Mao is pretty damn good. Had better not rush it though as I need a decent amount of reading material for France.

By the way, I'm not being irreverent about Irish deathbed granny, well maybe slightly. But 2 years of being in a bed slowly wasting away without the ability to communicate beyond an unidentifiable gurgle and without the ability to raise her head let alone her arms has rendered well, something less than a person unfortunately. I hope to fuck's sake, she's not in there. Because that life ain't worth living anymore.

Anyway.

West of the Jordan.

East of the Rock of Gibraltar.

I see the burning of the stage,

Curtain risin' of a new age,

See the groom still waiting at the altar...

Highway to the Dangerzone...

Hey.
Back from the wedding in London, things passed off suitably well and everybody seemed pleased.

There will be photos doubtless to beat the band.

I'm currently contemplating an acoustic reworking of the Giorgio Moroder classic: "Dangerzone" from Top Gun.

I'm getting excited about doing some proper writing and recording in the coming weeks seeing as I've put other areas of life on hold, might as well do something productive. Even if it is a pure vanity recording deal.

Hell, I've got to record the full album before I can start writing the book, eh.

So...

Out along the edges,
Always where I burn to be...

The further on the edge,
The hotter the intensity...

Highway to the Dangerzone...
Gonna take you right into the Dangerzone...

Highway to the Dangerzone...

Whatcha think??? I think it could work...

Becoming McDowell...

Well, JG, John Gormley has just been elected leader of ye olde Green Party in wonderful, wet, Eire.

See my post - It's like looking in a mirror, John... for further explications...

But, this is a somewhat parallel experience, ok, there's a slight ascendant here for the Greens whereas the PDs were clearly on the downward spiral the last time the leadership baton changed hands, how and ever, the net result or rather the material result is startingly similar.

The leader, erstwhile Harney, erstwhile Sargent, steps down for a Ministerial position under Fianna Fail, to keep the party faithful happy somehow and then valiant McDowell / Gormley comes into the breach to fill the gap, to lead the ideologically vacuous to greater heights of pandering to the largesse of Fianna Fail.

Fuck's sake John, what the feck are you doing... This is only going to end very badly.

I know, some people, like to think that oh, it's better to try and all that crap but sometimes, it's more important to call a spade, spade. And to go into government with that corrupt shower of shites, well, I expected it from the Greens but I was kinda hoping there were more than just pure careerists in that party.

John, you're proving me wrong.

And I'm not happy.

House price cooling...

Bank of Ireland Chief Executive welcomes 'House price cooling'

House price cooling??? It's like an environmental feckin' event now is it???

Why don't the meeja ask Goggin what in point of fact, is causing this cooling... Is it in fact, the same thing that caused house price warming???

What was it they used to call it?

Oh yes, "dynamic" lending practices...

So Mr. Goggin, I put it to you, no matter how balanced media reporting should or should not be, what has caused house price "cooling" has in fact been a reverse by you and your colleagues with respect to your previously "dynamic" lending practices, which in turn was occasioned by interest rate increases and most importantly the whole shooting match was fed by an irrational speculative demand within the Irish housing market. Which you and your colleagues stoked and simply let run riot while you increased your salary and earnings performance.

No, I don't expect you'll make any more money this year, Mr. Goggin, but I fully don't expect your salary to go down either, Sir.

Maybe, you should avail of some of the bargains in the marketplace, buyers market and all that, just to ensure that house price "cooling" doesn't turn into a totally cataclysmic event, eh.

We could be entering the Irish Housing Ice Age.

In the summertime...

Alrighty.

It's just after half past ten on a Monday morning and I'm listening to Mungo Jerry's infamous ode to the summertime.

Something must be up.

Alright, I'm sick.

I must be freaking delirious actually.

Are good things coming???

Hey,

Either, we've talked before, or you're in my mailing list, or you left a comment on my blog:

www.IamFacingForeclosure.com

I'm shutting the blog down on August 3rd. That's about 23 days from now.

After failing as a real estate investor and deciding to share ALL my mistakes, including "shady loans", the blog become a huge success as far as attention goes. I've been on TV, on radio, in newspapers, and international media; got to meet famous people, made great connections; got to travel overseas; and successfully monetized the traffic through advertising.

I've been labeled "The World Most Hated Blogger" on CNet because of the large following of "haterz" that developed overnight. These critics want to stop me from "profiting from my crime", give up on my entrepreneurial dreams, give up trying to pay back "every dirty penny", get a job and lay low. (However, I think a lot of them deep down want the best for me, but are simply frustrated by my choices. And I appreciate that.)

Well, instead of stopping, I enjoyed negative publicity because it added to the controversy and traffic. I always felt there is gotta be a way to leverage all this and do something positive.

Any publicity is good publicity. Right?

Wrong.

My marriage and my family has been affected in a big way by my actions and this toxic exposure. The internet could be a cruel place and I am the one who put myself and my family out there. If I knew things were going to get this bad I would have done investing and blogging in a much different way.

Now I may lose my wife over this.

The blog and publicity is just the tip of the iceberg. Underlying is my desire for financial success and "passive income" and also being known for something and having recognition. The love of money and pride. I fell into the trap. It's all my fault. I blame no one else.

I have always believed fame and money is NOT worth broken relationships. But my actions in the last 10 months of blogging and the last 3 years of marriage have been sending the opposite message.

So now I am pulling the plug on EVERYTHING:

Business, blog, publicity, book, etc... and getting a regular W2 job for at least 2 years or however long is necessary. It's a VERY tough decision, since I've been at it since high school.

There is nothing wrong with any of these things but not in the WAY I was pursuing them - making financial success my idol. It's NOT worth losing my wife over it and hurting my friends and family. I must put my financial goals aside and focus on what is truly important in this life. I will only get back into business in the future if I can do it in harmony with my relationships. If not, then I'll be content without.

I pray for the strength to change my core attitudes about money and start doing the right thing (instead of just talking about it). And I pray for healing to my relationships.

Thanks for all your support. After this email, I'm closing down this mailing list. I will not need promote myself or anything I'm doing in business for a long time... maybe forever.

I am sorry if you have been negatively affected by any of my actions, please accept my apology.

May God bless you.

Ok, it's all over, supposedly.

He's sold the blog for a cool $20,000 and 50% of first year revenue from whatever monetisation goes through with the new owner and he's also settled out of court and lost the rights to his foreclosure book, which to my mind sounds like another court case in the offing.

Plus, he's in serious marital difficulties.

Will this be the end of casey?

It'sallgood?

It'sallover??

Gigs...

Bought tix yesterday for a few up and coming shows...

Not till September but first up is La Merveilleuse, Feist, who shall be doing her thang in Tripod. Not my favourite venue but I've bought seats, so I'll see if that makes it any less objectionable... Tuesday night too, oo-er!

Then a few days later, it's the dulcet and not so dulcet bluegrass tones of The Old Crow Medicine Show. A very accomplished set of musicians, in the Village, Sunday night unfortunately too but should be a grand olde timey occasion.

And finally, I acquired tix for Iron & Wine, in the TBMC towards the end of October. I'm not too familiar with their work, mainly the delightful covers of Postal Service tunes but I'll try and inspect their back catalogue in advance.

Looking forward to gigs, it's been a little while.

Oh one more actually, I chanced about a little Norwegian act called, Thinguma*Jigsaw, a few weeks back at a Rebecca Collins gig. Very interesting, banjo and saw combo with a bit of flute thrown in for good measure. They're playing a farewell / album launch gig in the Lower Deck, up in Portobello on the 29th July, which should be very very good indeed.

I'll leave you with their myspace for further explanation.

Rain...

It's no exaggeration to say things are abnormally wet here on the Emerald Isle these days.

We had a glorious April but thus far, Summer has been a complete and utter washout. I'm actually looking forward to October, it's bound to be drier.

It's real cribbing and moaning weather and it's small wonder everyone is depressed.

Depressed about the weather, the economy, the housing market.

And then, our newly re-installed, vainglorious, Taoiseach (Prime Minister) goes and suggests that people who are critical of things, should go and commit suicide...

Well, it's a wonderful fucking war is all I can say...

The forecast is: Wet. Wet. Wet.

A few small repairs...

Knocked out Last FM from my profile there on the sidebar, don't really use it anymore to be honest and don't see why I'll be going back. If I find a better or rather more convenient way of giving insights into what I've been listening to lately, I'll throw it in.

Also, more webcomix...

"Diesel Sweeties" and "You'll have that" are pretty cool. I kind of was turned off initially by Diesel Sweeties, purely on the style but now I'm getting into it, you'll see in a couple of weeks what I mean as it's a guest fortnight I think running on there right now.

"You'll have that", I used to dip in and out of, I like Wes Molebash's style tho', and his comic is kinda channeling the good Garfield minus a large marmalade cat.

Enjoy...

Oh yeah, if you're rooting round for something to read on the interwebs, you might wanna check out these following sites, that I've been scooting onto on a regular basis...

Mackozer - Ireland from a Polish Perspective

And there are SWEEETTTT!!!! casey updates to be had at:

Exurban Nation

Don't hate casey - ok, maybe you should...

And not updates, but if you haven't been, get thee hence to:

Caseypedia - itsallgood

It's a good bibliography, from a Haterz perspective tho', on the casey serin phenomenon... Find out all about, the blue ball, Galina, win-wins, hell even find out what a Haterz is!!!

Again, enjoy...

Russian off license girl...

For the uninitiated, an off license is a liquor store...

Basically, we've been pretty friendly in the past but today she gave me short shrift.

Well not immediately but pretty quickly.

I guess, we've gone past the point where anythings going to happen, so she's just giving me the full vent of her frustration.

To think, I contemplated giving her a Valentine...

Russian off license girl, I'm sorry, your English is excellent but you're still too beautiful for me...

P.S.> I've got loads more posts to do but this one tickled me, I promise more content shortly...
